On Friday, September 21, 2011, Our Community School was joined by our local community including LAFD Station #107, LAPD Devonshire Division, Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce, Aida Tatiossian, LAUSD Charter School Division Specialist, Aixle Aman from the Office of Board Member Tamar Galatzan and all our wonderful OCS parents, children, staff and other supporters for its Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to commemorate its new library and honor our Library Donor Extraordinaire Lisa Pool Osorio and Honorary Librarian Dianne Kaub and our other donors and volunteers who have made generous contributions to help create our new library space.

Our Community School believes in the magic of a good book and has invested in this magic by creating a new library for its students. With the generous donation of books and time from its local community and Access Books, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to provide quality, high-interest books to school, classroom and community libraries, a corner of its computer lab was dedicated to a small library of about 1000 books for its students. However, Our Community School had a bigger dream for its library and its students, Our Community School fulfilled that dream by acquiring 10,000 additional books, and with the hard-work of Our Community School volunteer parents and relatives a beautiful library has thrived. The library is warm and inviting and is a place where Our Community School’s TK-8th grade students can continue to foster their imagination, creation, and knowledge. To make our library complete Our Community School has added the Alexandria, online library management system so that all its books can be properly tracked and its students will be able to check out books at any time. Interested in helping support our library? Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in helping support our library or if you would like to make arrangements to make a book donation.

Our Panda Partners, parent organization supports our library with volunteers and Recess Reading Reading and Lunch Reading programs.
