Meet our Administrators

Lynn Izakowitz, Principal/Executive Director: Lynn is very excited to be Principal/Executive Director of Our Community School. Lynn started in this position on February 1, 2016, as part of a thoughtful leadership transition plan crafted by the OCS Board of Directors. A Valley native, Lynn has considerable experience in education and non-profit management with thirteen years of experience as a teacher and three years in administration, as well as, eight years of experience in local and international non-profit management. Lynn came to this position at OCS after serving on the OCS Board of Directors, completing almost three years in board leadership. She has the unique experience of having taught secondary students in a private school, a public school in Los Angeles area, and an international school in Mexico. Her passion to educate the whole child and to infuse conflict resolution into schools has brought her to OCS and the charter school world. Lynn received a Masters of Arts degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, DC. She also holds a Master of Science in Education from National University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of San Diego. At OCS, Lynn wears two hats. One, as Principal to run the day-to-day aspects of the school while working with the teachers and staff to improve the education of the students. Two, as Executive Director, to keep a close eye on the big picture by working on various projects, such as LAUSD Oversight, Charter renewal, WASC, development/fundraising, and all compliance requirements. Beth Wolfsbauer, Assistant Principal: Beth is an experienced preschool and elementary teacher with a Master’s degree from CSUN in Family Environmental Sciences. She worked in the administration at another charter school for two years prior to joining Our Community School. Beth handles student conflict resolution and is the main person & contact for student behavior issues and parent outreach. She keeps records on all school personnel, keeps current on insurance information, organizes the staff schedules and arranges for substitutes. She is our enrollment coordinator and she handles the school lottery and waiting lists. She also is our school expert on conflict resolution and she trains students and teachers in this important skill. Alma Hernandez, Director of Operations: Alma came to us from LAUSD with 15 years of experience in school office management. In the eight years she has been with OCS, she has attended many training seminars and staff development workshops in the areas of finance, emergency procedures and school reporting with the district and state and facility management. She is in charge of the overall operations of the school. She tracks all school spending/budgets and she is responsible for ordering, stocking and filling school textbooks, classroom materials and furniture and general supplies. Alma is in charge of all facilities matters, from arranging repairs, scheduling maintenance of equipment and facilities, as well as overseeing our custodial staff. Alma can be reached by e-mail at

Meet our Office Staff

Valerie Davis, Office Manager: Valerie oversees the office staff and keeps all attendance and admissions records and does all the district and state reporting. Valerie also serves as the Co-Chair of our Student Attendance Review Board and handles most of the student attendance issues; including resolving absences, meeting with families for excessive tardies and absences, and reporting student attendance issues to the appropriate local agencies to ensure that all families are compliant with the Educational Code. Valerie is the point person in the area of special education and works collaboratively with the school’s assistant principal and the LAUSD special education department to ensure that we are in compliance with special education services. Janett Gonzalez, Office Assistant: Janett helps to make sure that the office runs smoothly and the children are always taken care of. She helps students when they are sick or injured and also calls home if children are ill or injured. She is an excellent translator and does both verbal and written translations for the school. Janett also oversees inputting the Benchmark Assessment results into our data base system and printing and mailing progress reports for our families. 

Kim Montgomery, Administrative Assistant: Kim began working at OCS in February 2013 and is very happy to be helping Alma and the rest of the administrative staff make OCS the wonderful place it is. She has over 20 years of experience as an administrative assistant working with various companies, including Warner Bros. Prior to her job at OCS, Kim could be found around campus volunteering in classrooms, the library and with Panda Partners as the Room Parent Coordinator.
