James has been teaching 5th grade at OCS since 2015. He was born and raised in England but moved to the US with his wife in 2013. James received his BA from Aberdeen University in Scotland, his teaching credential from Cal State, Northridge, and his MSE in Educational Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University. He spent time as a teaching assistant in India and has been involved in schools in New Zealand, Scotland and England. James enjoys playing soccer, tennis, and golf in his free time and occasionally goes for a round with some of the other teachers. He also runs the school chess club during lunch on Tuesdays. James believes teaching should be a conversation and a process between student and teacher where questions are welcomed.
